Red light-runner has ill-advised change of heart

Red Light

We’ve all done it before. Your sitting on route 4 in Prince Frederick or some other random traffic light in Southern Maryland and the light is red, but you’re turning right, so you stop and then proceed as soon as traffic clears. But then, just as you’ve committed, you spot a Crown Victoria, and your mind starts to race. Was there a no turn on red sign back there? Is that a cop? Oh snap, there goes my insurance premiums!

It’s not a pretty feeling, but once you’re committed, you know it’s too late. Well, it’s too late for most, but apparently not everyone in Russia agrees. Take a look at the below video that illustrates what not to do after deciding to turn right on a red light. We don’t speak Russian, but we’d like to think that the video’s narrator is calling this driver a, uh, buffoon.

Waterside Concerts

Prince Frederick Chrysler Jeep Dodge is proud to be a sponsor of the Waterside Concert series at the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons.

Since 1985, The Waterside Music Series has been cultivated and refined to become the most popular performing arts venue in Southern Maryland. It is the museum’s most important fundraising event and it assists in raising nearly 40 percent of the museum’s annual budget; a budget which is used to reach out to our area’s children and educate over 20,000 kids each year about maritime history, local culture, and the environment.

The productions kick-off and end the summer season with sensational performances by major recording artists. Highlight productions have featured B.B. King, Willie Nelson, James Brown, Chicago, Bob Dylan, Martina McBride, Bill Cosby, The Doobie Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, ZZ Top, Hank Williams, Jr., Steve Miller Band, and more. The fall and winter concerts bring some of the best up-and-coming musicians in the Mid-Atlantic region to the CMM auditorium, playing blues, rock, folk and more, for a variety of tastes. The Waterside Music Series would not be possible without the generous support of many local businesses.

This year to kick off the season, the Museum welcomes Larry the Cable Guy. Larry has a long resume that includes being the voice of Mater in the movie “Cars” and Co-starred in the movie “Witless Protection”. In this feature film, Larry stars as a small town sheriff who witnesses what he believes is a kidnapping, and rushes to rescue the beautiful victim, played by Ivana Milicevic (Casino Royale). The film is currently available on DVD.

We hope you will join us in supporting the Calvert Marine Museum, while at the same time enjoying some of the best entertainment brought into Southern Maryland.

  • One-stop spot for general information about customer’s Chrysler vehicle, including vehicle operation, maintenance and warranty information

Auburn Hills, Mich. , Jan 7, 2011  -

The Chrysler Brand and Mopar® are taking customer care to a new level, introducing new free smartphone applications that contain useful information about owner’s vehicles and creates a new channel of communication among owners and the company.

The new apps allow Chrysler owners to download information regarding their vehicle on to their personal smartphone. The free, available information includes product-feature demonstration videos, vehicle operation, maintenance and warranty information, access to 24-hour roadside assistance and customer care, and the ability to connect with fellow owners via the Chrysler brand on social media web sites. Because the systems are digital, it allows Chrysler to make updates to the “electronic” owner’s manual in real time.

“Chrysler’s tech-savvy customers appreciate the ability to simplify and manage their life on-the-go,” said Olivier Francois, Chrysler Brand CEO – Chrysler Group LLC. “These new apps from Mopar allow owners to easily access information about their vehicle as well as connect with other owners and enthusiasts via social media sites, saving time and organizing the information in one readily-accessible spot, available at their fingertips.”

In 2009, Chrysler Group was the first automotive company to replace traditional, bulky owner manuals with DVDs and user guides. In 2010, the company was the first in the automotive industry to offer smartphone vehicle-information applications. Information that used to be stuffed into the glove box is now readily available on the customer’s smartphone. Vehicle information apps for the new 2011 Chrysler 200, new 2011 Town & Country and the all-new 2011 Chrysler 300 will be available for download to smartphones that operate on the Android platform in mid-January and to iTunes and Blackberry users shortly after.

“Chrysler’s new vehicle-information applications are a critical part of our company’s customer care initiatives and create a convenient, on-demand channel of communication with our customers,” said Pietro Gorlier, President – Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, Chrysler Group LLC. “These apps are a source of information for owners and potential owners to learn about Chrysler products and are a great example of how we can add value to our vehicles and build brand identity.”

The vehicle-information apps, developed by Michigan-based Tweddle Group, are designed to support vehicles in the U.S. market. The Chrysler apps will first be available for Android devices and later for BlackBerry and iPhone users on major mobile carriers.

Application Features
The new Chrysler smartphone vehicle information apps will complement existing user guides and DVDs that are currently provided with each vehicle. Each vehicle-information app allows the consumer to browse 10 functional categories and view detailed topics of interest relative to their specific vehicle.

Key feature categories include vehicle operating instructions, vehicle maintenance schedules, warning lights and controls, warranty information, service contract details, frequently asked questions and customer assistance. Other features and benefits include links to genuine Mopar parts and accessories, Chrysler brand gear and merchandise and the Chrysler Community–which offers links to social media sites. The app also contains high-resolution product information images and videos.

About the Mopar Brand
Mopar is Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand.

Mopar distributes approximately 280,000 parts and accessories in more than 90 countries and is the source for all original-equipment parts for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram Truck vehicles. Mopar parts are unique in that they are engineered and tested with the same teams that create factory-authorized vehicle specifications for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram Truck vehicles – a direct connection that no other aftermarket parts company can provide. A complete list of Mopar accessories and performance parts is available at www.mopar.com.

More than 70 Years of Mopar
When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928, the need for a dedicated parts manufacturer, supplier and distribution system to support the growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Corporation (CMPC) in 1929.

Mopar (a simple contraction of the words Motor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937. It also was widely used as a moniker for the CMPC. The Mopar brand made its mark in the 1960s — the muscle-car era. The Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth “package cars” equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar carried a line of “special parts” for super stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use.

Dodge Charger SRT8

Here at Prince Frederick Dodge we were just itching for a closer look at the new line of performance-oriented vehicles from Dodge but don’t want to brave the polyester-clad wolves at your local dealership? We have good news for you.

Dodge has been so kind as to turn out a handful of videos that focus on each and every one of the new muscle-bound pieces of hardware. The clips feature plenty of insight from Fred Deperez, head of Dodge marketing and David McDonald, the engineer responsible for crafting the luscious new Charger SRT8. The videos are rife with performance figures and long looks into the engine bay, and you even get to spend some time gawking at the vehicles’ interiors as well.

Dodge has dusted off videos for the Charger SRT8, Durango R/T and even the Grand Caravan R/T for your viewing pleasure. Hit the jump to check out the footage for yourself.

Image, Attitude, Class: Chrysler’s Eminem Super Bowl Ad Hits Hard

If you’re like the rest of the fans in Prince Frederick you were sitting on your butt watching a great sporting event on Sunday Night. If your like myself and some of other friends in Upper Marlboro you wanted to see the commercials almost as much as the game. And there were some great ones.

The Lombardi Trophy returns to Titletown as the Green Bay Packers claim their 13th championship, four of them Super Bowl titles. As one who became a bigger fan after moving away from Wisconsin, especially when Holmgren and Favre took over, I’m gratified to see Thompson/McCarthy/Rodgers & Co. put Favre and his status as a David Letterman punchline in the rearview mirror. The Packers’ victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, more than three years after Favre’s retirement fiasco, finds just a bit of metaphor in the best television commercial from Fox’s Super Bowl XLV broadcast: Chrysler’s “Imported from Detroit” ad, which is officially titled “Born of Fire.” If you haven’t seen it, here it is:

We couldn’t wait for the new 200 to hit our shiny showroom floors earlier this year. We are just as excited to have you come see the all new Chrysler 200. Make sure to come by Prince Frederick Chrysler to check it out for yourself.

Lookie here! 2011 Dodge Durango

A Dinosaur Dodges Extinction

2011 Dodge Durango

Geologically speaking, dinosaurs ruled the earth for a brief period. In automotive terms, the same holds true for the traditional sport utility vehicle. But while dinosaurs will never return, SUVs are attempting a comeback.

Autoblog readers all know the history of the American SUV; it started with the Suburban in 1936 when Chevrolet dropped a station wagon body over a truck chassis. Natural selection favored utilitarian characteristics, so the Suburban grew. Other forces were active in the land of Jeep. Their Wagoneer (1963) survived for decades thanks to genes that combined plushness with off-road capabilities. Another variation on the SUV was the unibody Jeep Cherokee XJ (1984), a new phylum that somehow mutated from body-on-frame parents.

Environmental influencers such as cheap gas and low lease rates caused an SUV Cambrian Explosion throughout the 1980s and 90s. Spontaneous parallel genesis occurred at other manufacturers yielding dozens of Darwinian finch-like variations. Then disaster struck. The entire range of SUVs nearly went extinct with the meteoric impact of 2008′s financial collapse and a spike in fuel prices. Does the 2011 Dodge Durango represent the rear-wheel drive SUV’s last gasp or its reemergence?

2012 Chrysler 300 spy shots!

2012 Chrysler 300C spy shots

2012 Chrysler 300C spy shots – See below for more images

Some intrepid spy photographers have just caught the 2012 Chrysler 300C running around completely undisguised during a promotional video shoot (hence the full tint job). Now that all of the camouflage has been removed, we can clearly see the 300′s reworked front and rear fascias. Up front, Chrysler‘s new corporate grille is flanked by stylish headlamps that use LED daytime running lamps. Out back, the taillamps are spruced up with chrome accents and a large chrome strip that runs the length of the rear bumper. It sounds like a lot of chrome, but it’s quite tasteful, and looks downright sharp on a black car like this prototype.

Much like its sister car, the Dodge Charger, expect the updated 300 to be powered by both the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8, with all-wheel drive available on certain models. Since Chrysler’s flagship sedan is nearing the tail end of its development phase, a Los Angeles or Detroit show debut is a safe bet. See the sleek new 300 in our gallery of spy shots, below.
